The Ekiti State House of Assembly (ESHA) seems to have responded perfectly to the Fulani herdsmen attack in Ekiti as they have successfully passed a bill to prohibit free grazing in the state. On Thursday the 25th of August 2016, members of the legislative arm of government in Ekiti State converged to decide on ways to prevent or reduce the possibility of another attack by rampaging herdsmen. What impelled the bill was an attack by herdsmen on residents of the Oke-Ako community in Ekiti State. Governor Fayose is most likely going to assent the bill by the State’s Assembly, thereby making it a law in the state. If this happens, the enactment would contrast with the efforts of the Federal Government and the National Assembly to provide free grazing areas for herdsmen.
