Several Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), mostly women and children, are struggling to survive without food and drugs in camps provided by the Nigerian government. In a vocal protest against their squalid living conditions, many of these people have left the camps to air their grievances on a major road in Borno State. The people said they are being treated like “slaves” and “prisoners without food” in their camps and this is the reason for their protest. Every three days, the feeding committee will come and make tea and give each household just a cup to share. Commendably, the Nigerian government has gone one step ahead in this regard, by implementing the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
