The road was closed from 12pm, as The Warminster Independent Christmas Market, run by the Warminster Business Network, set up over 30 stalls with Christmas gifts. Youngsters in the town were delighted to see Father Christmas appear on stage to officially switch on the town's festive lights, joined by Town Crier Rick Johnston and Warminster mayor Coun Phil Keeble. "The Town takes a great deal of pride in its annual Christmas lights switch-on," said Coun Keeble. "They bring a sparkle to the festivities and we hope the atmosphere will get visitors into the Christmas spirit as we approach the countdown to the big day. "This is the biggest crowd here today that we have ever had, which is very encouraging to see," he added.
