PETALING JAYA: Outgoing Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (Ideas) chief executive officer Wan Saiful Wan Jan (pic) says he will be joining a new political party and is keen to contest in the coming polls. Wan Saiful told The Star that he would be formally switching his current membership in PAS for a new political party but remained tight-lipped over the details. Wan Saiful, however, did not confirm if he would be fielded as a candidate, saying that it was a matter for the party to decide. "In the same week that column was published, several unexpected conversations took place with leaders of different political parties," Wan Saiful said, adding that it led to his decision to exit PAS. Wan Saiful said he would not be able to forgive himself for declining an opportunity to join Malaysian politics and improve the quality of political debate.
