Police said a man involved in a Southland crash on Wednesday morning had died but have since said he survived the crash. The man is in Southland Hospital with critical head injuries following the crash in Wallacetown. The man was transported to Southland Hospital in a critical condition at 11:44am, St John said. In 2014, police wrongly told a Dunedin couple their daughter had survived a double-fatality crash when she was dead.
