Wall Street profits jumped 82% in the first half of this year, a rare bright spot for the city and state’s pandemic-ravaged budgets. Pretax profits in New York’s securities industry reached $27.6 billion in the first six months of 2020, the highest first-half haul since 2009, according to a report released Thursday by the state comptroller’s office. The industry’s profits for all of 2019 totaled $28.1 billion.
