Waimate District Council tables $12m council rates take

Waimate District Council chief executive Stuart Duncan has proposed a 5.48 per cent rates increase in the 2019/20 annual plan. Waimate district councillors will assess a proposed rates increase of 5.48 per cent when they meet on Tuesday to finalise the annual plan. In the annual plan, council chief executive Stuart Duncan said that would equate to an average rate increase of 5.48 per cent. The Waimate District Council has expressed concerns that an increasing number of weather events such as this, are costing ratepayers. In the 2019/20 year the council would be focussing on the Lower Waihao, Waikakahi and Waimate water supplies, he said.
