Daniel Bryan retained the WWE Championship in one of the most bizarre WWE matches in recent memory. With WWE creating a new Daniel Bryan out of Kofi Kingston, WWE laid out a booking strategy designed to have the rare WWE-approved fan hijack of a WWE Championship match. Vince McMahon misled Kofi Kingston to believe he would compete in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship at Fastlane. The fix was in, as the third member of the Triple Threat Match turned out to be Mustafa Ali. But as this match continued, Mustafa Ali began to help Cleveland forget about Kofi Kingston for the time being.
