Volunteering Mid and South Canterbury plastered appreciation certificates on a bollard at the top of the Port Loop to mark National Volunteering Week. Society would "fall over" without volunteers, the Volunteering Mid and South Canterbury co-ordinator says as National Volunteer Week wound up. National Volunteer Week was from June 21 to 27, to honour those who give their time freely to others. Volunteering Mid and South Canterbury co-ordinator Lou Billinghurst said the organisation had 900 volunteers on its database with about 700 of those active. Supplied A morning tea was held for 180 Waimate volunteers on Friday to celebrate National Volunteer Week at the Waimate Event Centre.
