The National Party's environment spokesperson says the Gore District Council isn't alone in opting to dump recycling into landfills, and he feels the Government is too slow in finding solutions. The Gore District Council will make changes to its recycling processing this week when a WasteNet Southland contract with Southland disAbility Enterprises comes to an end on Tuesday. Instead of renewing its contract with SDE the Gore council has opted to go it alone in a move to avoid a recycling cost hike for its residents. National's environment spokesperson Scott Simpson said Gore was not a lone ranger in choosing to now take some recycling to landfill. The worse collection days for Invercargill were Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and for the Southland District, Riverton, Tuatapere, Manapouri, Otautau, Ohai and Nightcaps were the worst offenders.
