The PM said we could all get together for five days at Christmas and the virus could go hang. Very quickly Mr Johnson’s scheme began to shed credibility like wilting pine needles off a Christmas tree. There were dark mutterings of a lengthy lockdown after Christmas to drive down the infections Mr Johnson wanted to give free rein. TemptationIt became clear that Mr Johnson was not following the science at all. But if it helps us to defeat the virus, we can have a Christmas next year we will never forget.
