Virus-related cooking gas price cutThe cabinet will consider ways of reducing the price of cooking gas next week, to help ease the economic impact of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) outbreak, Energy Minister Sontirat Sontijirawong said. Measures already implemented included a reduction in electricity charges, six-monthly payments for electricity and the return of electricity meter guarantees, Mr Sontirat said. The prime minister had ordered officials to quickly come up with a way to lower the price of cooking gas, and there should be clear progress next week, he said. The government would also reconsider the oil price structure. "Luckily, the global oil price has plunged and this also means lower local oil prices," the energy minister said.
