Virgin defers 737 MAX orders, hours after Boeing CEO survives battle to keep jobUpdatedVirgin Australia has confirmed it will defer taking delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, from November 2019 to July 2021, due to safety concerns. "We are confident in Boeing's commitment to returning the 737 MAX to service safely and as a long-term partner of Boeing, we will be working with them through this process." The company has ordered 48 of Boeing's 737 MAX aircraft. In a statement to the ASX, the company said there would be financial benefits from deferring its Boeing aircraft order. Last week, Boeing abandoned its 2019 financial outlook, halted share buybacks and said lowered production due to the 737 MAX grounding had cost it at least $US1 billion so far.
