Virgin Money to axe 400 more jobs after announcing 52 bank branch closures

The job losses will be spread between Virgin Money's head offices in Newcastle, Glasgow and Leeds, it said. It's in addition to the 300 redundancies announced earlier this year due to bank branch closures. Lucy Dimes, chief strategy & transformation officer at Virgin Money UK, said: "We are committed to bringing our operations together under the Virgin Money brand to offer customers a sustainable business which is fit for the future. The job cuts would take effect during the first few months of next year and Virgin Money said it hoped to achieve as many job losses as possible through natural turnover. Lloyds Bank is consulting on 865 job losses, while the Co-operative Bank (350 jobs) and NatWest (550) are also laying off staff.
