A heaping spoonful of eggs, three links of sausage and a biscuit smothered with a ladle of gravy. Jim and Donna Murphy, of the Village of Largo, work together as a well-oiled two-person assembly line, cooking up breakfast for the dozens of locals who walk through the doors of the Salvation Army of Lake & Sumter counties hankering for a hot meal on Wednesday mornings. Each meal is packaged neatly in a white plastic foam container and handed out for free to anyone who enters. For 10 years, the Murphys, along with a regiment of other volunteers, have helped get free hot morning meals out to community members in need. Wally Nebel, volunteer coordinator for the breakfast program, said the group now serves an estimated 900 breakfasts per month, with meals provided every weekday.
