The statement said that the written statement that the Chief Justice supplied to journalists on Friday night before his departure was confusing and the Supreme Court had issued this statement to clarify the matter. Four judges -Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, Justice Hasan Foez Siddique and Justice Mirza Hussain Haider – met with the president. After Justice Muhammad Imman Ali’s return, the five judges held a meeting on October 1 and after discussing the allegations thoroughly, decided to inform Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha. The statement claims that at that stage, the Chief Justice told them that he will resign, and promised to give them a final decision on the next day. The Chief Justice left for Australia on Friday night, issuing a statement to the press that he was not ill and had been embarrassed by the prime minister’s criticism against him.
