While the decision to hold elections will be essentially political and circumstantial, it is likely that GoI will use the simultaneous election argument to justify holding the next general elections early. The arguments in favour of simultaneous elections are well known. Simultaneous elections are meant to reduce the cost associated with multiple elections. Nor do simultaneous elections represent a solution to any of them.Electoral politics is, indeed, fuelled by black money. State politics would revert to their own life after synchronisation, with its lot of failed coalitions, shifting or collapsing majorities.
