Veterans banners on display in St. Marys mark Remembrance Day

With Remembrance Day parades cancelled this year because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Town of St. Marys has found the "perfect" way to honour its veterans. St. Marys has many families whose relatives fought in the two world wars with the navy, air force, the Perth Regiment — and others. President of St. Marys Legion Tom Jenkins said members of the public were asked to sponsor a banner of a veteran in their family. Banners project has 'been a great hit'Jenkins said there are banners of people from the First World War, Second World War, Afghanistan, Korea, and some who are still serving. St. Marys has received "all kinds of wonderful compliments" and the project has certainly raised the profile of Remembrance Day, he said.
