BENGALURU: Former Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna on Saturday quit active politics, and reportedly sent a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi asking to be relieved him from the primary membership of the party.Krishna is scheduled to officially announce his decision on Sunday.The 84-year-old Congressman is said to be miffed at being sidelined within the Congress, both at the national and the state level.Krishna had returned to state politics after resigning as Union minister for External Affairs in October 2012.Krishna was the Karnataka CM from 1999-2004, when the Congress returned to power in the state under his leadership. At the time, he was the party's state unit president.When the Congress failed to returned to power in 2004, and formed the government with the support of the Janata Dal (Secular), Krishna was appointed the governor of Maharashtra.
