Banwarilal Purohit sworn in as acting governor of Meghalaya


Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit was on Saturday sworn in as the acting Governor of Meghalaya by Shillong High Court Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari at Raj Bhavan. The post had become vacant after V Shanmuganathan resigned on Thursday night following charges of inappropriate behaviour against him. He also held an additional charge as the governor of Arunachal Pradesh. Nagaland Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya has been sworn in and now given the additional charge of Arunachal Pradesh.
