more-inThe rollback of bus fare hike announced by the State government on Sunday brought hopes to commuters on a reduction in ticket fares. The commuters also charge that these bus services with higher fares are operated mainly on routes where no other public transport service is available. The fare in Deluxe bus ranges from ₹11 to ₹47 and Express bus between ₹7 and ₹34. Residents of western suburbs like Maduravoyal, Avadi and Ambattur say they don’t see white board bus services on several routes, including Thiruninravur, Avadi, Pattabhiram, and Veppampet. Consumer activist T. Sadagopan says a number of bus services are operated as either Express or Deluxe bus services with no white board bus services available for the common man.
