Despite the government's directive of abstaining from inter-district travel during the shutdown till May 30, around 600 vehicles were seen awaiting to crossover on Friday morning at the Shimulia terminal in Lohajang upazila of Munshiganj. Thirteen ferries operating at the Shimulia-Kathalbari ferry route were overwhelmed due to the pressure of vehicles and long tailback, mostly consisting of cars, extSenior Additional Superintendent of Police Nazmur Raihan said: "Number of vehicles waiting to cross suddenly rose last night. In most cases, we are sending back hired vehicles carrying passengers, discouraging their movement. He further said that he hasn't received any instruction to bar vehicles from crossing over.
