NewsVavuniya Police arrested two suspects as they busted a racket involving the destruction of Kumbuk trees. A large stock of kumbuk timber from trees which were cut down illegally were also seized, along with a hand tractor and tools used by the suspects. Police had conducted the raid based on a tip-off that Kumbuk trees were being cut down illegally in Ichchankulam. They said the racket had been carried out over a long period of time. The suspects are due to be produced before the Vavuniya Magistrate's Court.
