NewsThe Navy took into custody 16 persons who had been involved in illegal activities at several locations in the island. Accordingly, 13 persons engaged in illegal fishing, 2 suspects for keeping Kerala Cannabis and tablets of Tramadol in their possession, a suspect with Madana Modaka (aphrodisiacs) and an abandoned consignment of Kerala Cannabis were apprehended by the Navy. Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command arrested 13 persons for engaging in illegal fishing practices using unauthorized fishing nets in the seas off Pigeon Island on 04 October. During a search carried out in Kamburugamuwa region the suspect was arrested along with 100 madana modaka pills. Meanwhile, naval personnel attached to the Northwestern Naval Command managed to recover 82 kg of Kerala Cannabis, based on intelligence information received to the Navy on 06 October in Uchchamunai area.
