Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi said the vandals destroyed equipment was suppose to help control the worrying number of road accidents. "An average of 18 to 19 people die in road accidents every day in Malaysia, and this statistic is worrying for the government. One factor that contributes to road accidents is speeding. "We know that speeding kills, so people must understand that we need to reduce the number of road accidents as it cost lives and injures motorists. He said the AES system was used in many countries and its effectiveness was proven in addressing road accidents in those countries.
