VALENZUELA Mayor Rex Gatchalian on Sunday said the Sangguniang Panlunsod (City Council) has approved an ordinance banning all types of firecrackers until the state of public health emergency is lifted. Ordinance 833 prohibits the “manufacture, sale, distribution, storage, possession or use of all types of firecrackers.”It also bans the use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices, the mayor said. Gatchalian lauded Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja and the councilors for the swift passage of the ordinance. He said the ban could be lifted once the state of public health emergency and crisis brought about by the pandemic ended. Vicente Danao Jr. earlier said all mayors in Metro Manila agreed to prohibit the use and sale of all kinds of firecrackers during the Christmas holiday.
