'Untreatable' superbug spreading between hospitals and care homes, doctors warn

The strange fungus has not responded to any medication and doctors fear it may be untreatable. It is spread from patient to patient through direct contact or from contaminated surfaces and can become deadly once it enters the bloodstream, heart or brain. While back then, there wasn’t any evidence that the infections had spread from patient to patient, the recent cases have spread this way. Investigators reviewed medical records and found no evidence of previous antifungal use among the patients among the cases at the nursing home and hospitals.
