Thomas Brooks (above), 36, of Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, forged 220 signatures over nine months to prescribe himself painkillers for his back painA drug-addicted doctor who forged a colleague's signature more than 200 times has been spared prison after admitting fraud. Thomas Brooks, who worked at the Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield, admitted he forged signatures to obtain painkillers for his back pain. The court heard that in 2017 Brooks was prescribed codeine as a painkiller for a back problem, but 'allowed himself to become addicted to it.' The prescription bore the signature of another emergency doctor but he said the signature had been forged. He said some painkillers Brooks took had caused an adverse reaction and codeine was the only one which gave him real pain relief.
