PETALING JAYA: Some RM180,080 worth of unregistered health products and medicines were seized in several raids on illegal clinics and pharmacies operated by foreigners, said Health Ministry’s director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. “Similar raids were carried out in 2018 on five illegal premises in the same area involving Bangladeshis,” he said yesterday. Most of the health products and medicines seized were smuggled in from Bangladesh and India. This included concealing and storing their illegal health products and medicines among other products and general items. Dr Noor said it is an offence to sell unregistered health products and medicines under the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations, which is punishable by a fine not exceeding RM25,000, a jail term not exceeding three years or both upon conviction.
