Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly this evening announced the four nations have been removed from the designated hotel quarantine list. The US, France, Belgium and Luxembourg have been removed from the mandatory hotel quarantine (MHQ) this evening, with immediate effect. All European countries have now been removed from Ireland’s list following Health Minister Stephen Donnelly’s confirmation this evening. Travellers arriving to Ireland from the UK must observe a 14-day home quarantine, Transport Minister Eamon Ryan reiterated earlier. The variant is thought to be up to 60pc more transmissible than the UK variant - the dominant variant in Ireland - according to UK public health advisory group SAGE.
