United is now the first US airline to give customers non-binary gender options while booking their flights. In February, an Air New Zealand spokeswoman said it was "exploring how we can introduce non-binary gender options across our various digital environments". This standard was said to become effective June 1, but it was up to individual airlines to make the option available to their booking platforms.
