Unconscious bias training should be scrapped for employees and replaced with more effective practices, urges a landmark review into racial inequality. Whitehall departments have already phased out unconscious bias training following research last year that found it did not help stamp out workplace prejudices. Unconscious bias training: Organisations should 'move away from' the training in favour of employee sponsorship schemes and routine skills support for all employees. Last month the BBC announced a new diversity directive which will require 95 per cent of staff to complete unconscious bias training. It called on firms to phase out 'unconscious bias' training because other approaches were needed to 'advance fairness in the workplace'.
