more-inNayaz Ahmed, a police sub-inspector attached to DJ Halli station sustained head injuries while trying to nab a gang of armed rowdies, who were fighting with their rivals on the busy Shampura Main Road on Thursday evening. Mr. Nayaz rushed to the spot and the gang sensing trouble began to flee. Mr. Ahmed, who was in mufti and un-armed, began to chase and caught one of the rowdies. A profusely bleeding sub-inspector was rushed to a private hospital by passers-by, where he is being treated and said to be out of danger. Though Mr. Ahmed managed to prevent a possible murder, the attack has brought back in focus the issue of officers not carrying their service weapon while on duty.
