KUALA LUMPUR: Umno information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa has debunked speculation that Barisan Nasional will cooperate with PAS in the next general election, but added that the “door was always open”. “Up to this stage, there is no such cooperation with PAS and from what I understand, PAS is also thinking of going it alone. Annuar, who’s Ketereh MP, said that Barisan’s aim was to form a strong government, and that potentially left the door open for some sort of cooperation with PAS. Annuar said that the public should not misinterpret any Barisan cooperation with PAS. In October, Annuar had said that the possibility of cooperation between Umno and PAS was “not remote”, adding that both parties shared certain similar goals, which were to champion Islam and the Malays.
