The news, variously reported, is still fairly new and yet to be confirmed by Ukrainian authorities. Nevertheless if the Ukrainian F-16s have indeed tallied their first kill of a Russian fighter bomber then it is great news worth celebrating. Until this news, Ukraine has had seemingly no answer to the marauding Su-34s and their infernal cargo. And to make it even more galling the Russians have now resorted to raining their glide bombs on innocent civilians far removed from the front lines. Today’s shoot down of an Su-34, reportedly about 30 miles from the front lines hopefully puts Russian pilots on notice ... not only do you need to worry about Patriot batteries but now the F-16 might get ya, too.
