Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba now says that former President Uhuru Kenyatta did not become Mt Kenya kingpin because his father was the founding president of Kenya. "I am looking at all those people we call kingpins in Mt Kenya historically, it is not in any dispute that Uhuru Kenyatta has been a kingpin. "The reason why Uhuru Kenyatta became a kingpin is because he showed at some point that he could take a bullet for the people of Mt Kenya. They know what Uhuru Kenyatta did for the sake of the people of Mt Kenya," she said. Wamuchomba's remarks come amidst an ongoing succession battle on who should take over the leadership of Mt Kenya Region in 2027.
