Uber plans southern expansion into Queenstown and Otago

Uber plans southern expansion into Queenstown and OtagoLEON NEAL/GETTY Uber, the app-based ride-share service, is coming to Queenstown and Dunedin. Ride-sharing giant Uber is expanding into Otago, with plans to start operating in Dunedin and Queenstown within the next few months. Uber now requires all its drivers to hold the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) endorsements. The company said it aimed to alleviate pressure on the existing transport networks of both Otago centres, particularly during peak tourism times. Queenstown Taxis boss Grant Scannell said Uber was "just another competitor", and he was "not worried" they were coming.
