A United Kingdom court ruling which gave Uber drivers employment rights such as holiday pay is unlikely to lead to any U-turn in New Zealand, a leading employment lawyer says. Uber has said it would appeal the decision, but many have suggested the ruling could set a precedent for Uber drivers in this country. Mills said the UK decision could still help Uber drivers negotiate better contracts for themselves, however. The New Zealand Uber Drivers' Association has said it was considering the impact of the UK ruling and the possibility of court action here.
