The US has reduced the countervailing duty rate imposed on Bangladeshi products from 20% to 19%. At the same time, it has been decided to provide no reciprocal tariff benefits on the export of certain apparel products made using cotton and synthetic fibers imported from the US. A bilateral agreement in this regard was signed between the two countries on Monday (February 9) night Bangladesh time in Washington DC. The agreement was signed on behalf of Bangladesh by Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin and National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman.
