The United States Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Jeffrey Feltman is scheduled to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey and Egypt beginning Thursday to discuss the Ethiopian conflict, State Department spokesperson Ned Price said Wednesday. He reiterated that there is no military solution to the conflict in Ethiopia. The U.S. and others have warned that Africa’s second-most populous country could fracture and destabilize the Horn of Africa. In one year, Ahmed’s government has gone from describing the Tigray conflict as a “law enforcement operation” to an “existential war." These countries are also urging their citizens to leave Ethiopia while commercial flights are still available.
