His body along with two other victims were flown to Dhaka on Thursday, whenCivil Aviation Minister AKM Shahjahan Kamal handed over the bodies to their family at the airport. His father, Sukhendu Bikas Roy, a head teacher of Chandrakanto High School, said the body was taken to Sahera Khatun Medical College in Gopalganj, where he studied. The relatives, teachers and his classmates attended Pias funeral held in Barisal. His mother Purnima Roy is a teacher of a local state-run primary school. Rest of the three victims were identified later and flown back to Dhaka on Thursday.
