The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced to Congress Tuesday that it will grant the final easement needed to complete the Dakota Access Pipeline. The Justice Department filed court documents including letters to members of Congress from Deputy Assistant Army Secretary Paul Cramer. Acting Secretary of the Army Robert Speer said the decision was made based on a sufficient amount of information already available which supported approval to grant the easement. "Today's announcement will allow for the final step, which is granting of the easement," Speer announced in a statement. Dallas-based pipeline developer Energy Transfer Partners says the pipeline is safe.
