The incident took place around 11pm on Friday. The deceased is Hemanta Chakma, 27, member of Ward 2 under Bonjogichhara union. Locals said a group of miscreants opened fire on Hemanta, who was chatting with a friend at the latter's house, leaving him dead on the spot. Confirming the incident, Juraichhari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmudul Hai said the body was sent to Rangamati General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
