UNHCR chief urges international donors to channel more aid for Rohingya refugees

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Filippo Grandi has called for more aid from international donors in a bid to mitigate the plight of the Rohingya refugees. Filippo made the appeal during a media briefing at the UNHCR Cox’s Bazar office after visiting refugees at Balukhali and Kutupalong camps on Sunday. He talked to a number of refugees and listened to the horror they experienced at home in Rakhine state. The refugees also expressed their ongoing plight to the UN high commissioner. According to UNHCR, around 429,000 Rohingya refugees have fled to Bangladesh since the latest military crackdown erupted in Rakhine on August 25.
