There were 6,740 NHS bariatric ops in England in 2019/2020. But Tam Fry, chairman of the National Obesity Forum, blasted a “postcode lottery” for the procedures, shown in the regional figures. In particular, bariatric surgery is a postcode lottery. “The North East has headed the list for ops for years, but many regions still refuse to fund them on grounds of cost.
