New Delhi, Jan. 18: British foreign secretary Boris Johnson has a problem - the "pesky" tariff India imposes on imported Scotch whisky. It is common to see Indians returning from abroad queued up at duty-free shops on landing at India's international airports, and leave with bags stashed with bottles of imported alcohol. But the tariff serves as a key roadblock, Johnson argued, for the expansion of Scotch whisky in India. But that amount still constitutes only 4 per cent of the Indian alcohol market. Johnson said Britain wanted a free-trade agreement with India, which had till now been negotiating one with the EU, including the UK.
