UK still paying nearly double the European average for electricity

Energy bills may finally be starting to fall — but Britain still pays more for its electricity than almost all other countries. Households in the UK pay nearly double the average across Europe, according to research by retailer The Underfloor Heating Store. It finds that we have the sixth most expensive energy tariff in the world — paying an average of 39p per kilowatt hour (kWh). A single kilowatt hour is the amount of energy required to fuel a 1,000-watt appliance for one hour. We pay more for our energy than almost any other European country — which on average spends 23p per kWh.
