Motorists have been warned not to drive unless essential as the 'mini Beast from East' brought chaos. The bitter weather front has caused transport disruption across the country including at airports with dozens of flights cancelled at London Heathrow, Gatwick and other airports across the country. Heavy snow is expected to fall in Scotland, and many eastern and southern areas, including Hampshire, Sussex and Kent, which could be blanketed by up to four inches. While Met Office amber warnings are in place for the east Midlands, south east, north west, south west, west midlands, Yorkshire and Wales, yellow warnings for snow and ice are in place for much of the country. Parts of the south west face potential blackouts later as snow, ice and gale force winds threaten to bring down trees and power cables.
