Danielle Steer headed in the winning goal in the 79th minute as the UBC Thunderbirds claimed the 2019 U Sports women’s soccer national championship with a 1-0 win over the Calgary Dinos on Sunday in Victoria. “I saw the ball coming and knew I needed to get something on it. The win capped a perfect championship weekend for the T-Birds, who won all three of its games by the same 1-0 score. Fourth-year goalkeeper Emily Moore earned three clean sheets in the UBC net. It was UBC’s seventh national women’s soccer title and first since 2015.
