The UAE on Tuesday announced the opening of safe air corridors with its neighbors to facilitate the return of its citizens and help visitors leave the country. Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, told reporters Tuesday that the UAE is capable of operating 48 emergency evacuation flights per hour, adding that the number of flights may gradually increase based on safety assessments. The Emirati minister explained that more than 17,000 passengers have been evacuated from the country on 60 flights since Sunday during the first phase of the plan. He added that the next phase will see more than 80 flights daily, with a transport capacity exceeding 27,000 people.
